Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Nairobi & transfer to Safaripark Hotel, Dinner and overnight stay in Safari Park

Spending a day in Nairobi is important considering flight delays and rest before we start the road trip covering the length & breadth of the country. The day includes city sightseeing, museum visit, the giraffe-feeding centre depending on the time on hand.

Folks can also enjoy Tribal Dance at the hotel. We spend the night at Safari Park Hotel.

Day 2
Drive to The Ark - Tree Lodge - Experience the evergreen side of Kenya

"Tree Hotel" THE ARK is strategically located in the heart of Aberdares forests. Resembling and named after biblical Noah's Ark, the cabin-styled rooms- all have private bathroom and shower. There are three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide excellent vantage points for game viewing. This unique game lodge overlooks floodlit waterholes and saltlick, which attract a variety of wildlife (elephants, rhinos, leopards, bushbucks, bongos), that come here to quench their thirsty and lick on the salt.

Buzzers are fitted in the rooms to alarm if any of the animals make it to the waterhole for viewing from the gallery. Besides, tourists can enjoy the snow-clad view of Mount Kenya, which is at a close proximity from the Ark.

Day 3
Depart early and drive to Samburu (330 Kms) for an evening game drive.(Safari).Night spent in - Samburu Simba Lodge.

The Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George Adamson and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness made famous in the best selling book and award winning movie Born Free.

Samburu with its unique dry-country animal life is home to all the big cats, elephants, rhinos and is famous for Gerenuk, Grant's Gazelle, Kirk's Dik-dik, Impala, Waterbuck, Grevy's Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Reticulated Giraffe, all found only in Samburu.

Day 4
Morning and evening game drives in Samburu and a visit to Traditional Samburu Village (Optional)

Samburu National Reserve is very peaceful and attracts animals because of the Uaso Nyiro River (meaning "brown water" and pronounced U-aa-so-Nyee-ro) that runs through it and the mixture of acacia, riverine forest, thorn trees and grassland vegetation. The natural serenity that is evident here is due to its distance from industry and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years. There are over 350 species of bird. These include Somali Ostrich, Grey-Headed Kingfisher, Sunbird, Bee-eater, Marabou Stork, Tawny Eagle, Bateleur, Vulturine Guineafowl, Lilac-Breasted Roller, Palm Nut Vulture, Red-Billed Hornbill, Secretary Bird, Verreaux's Eagle, Superb Starling, Yellow-Billed Hornbill and Vultures.

The Samburus are a semi-nomadic tribe with culture dating back to centuries. The visit to Samburu village gives us insights of their age-old traditions and customs that can be rarely seen anywhere else in the world.

Day 5
Drive to Sweet water’s tented Camp to visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and game drive.Night spent at Sweet Water’s Tent.

The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the only place in Kenya where this highly endangered and remarkably intelligent species can be seen. This is also the only place where night safaris can be experienced at an additional cost.
