Srinagar to Manali

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrival in Srinagar overnight in Sonamarg (80 Kms- 2.5 Hours)
Pickup from Srinagar airport and transfer to Sonamarg. Overnight at Sonamarg.

Day 2 - Sonmarg to Kargil (220 Kms - 5.5 Hours)
After breakfast we drive to Kargil and enroute Drass (second coldest inhabited place in the world). We shall also visit Vijay Smarak (war memorial of drass, Kargil) and overnight at Kargil hotel.

Day 3 - Kargil to Leh (220 Kms - 5.5 Hours)
After breakfast we drive to Leh and on the way visit Fotula pass and Namkila pass. Lunch enroute.

Pattharsahib Gurudwara: A beautiful Gurudwara constructed in memory of Guru Nanak Dev. It is situated on the Leh Kargil road. The armed forces looks after the Gurudwara.

Magnetic Hill: Alleged to have magnetic properties strong enough to pull a car uphill. Visitors and residents alike claim the legend to be true.
Confluence of Sindhu and Zanskar rivers is a magical sight apart from the obvious geographical significance.

Moonland: As the name says it all, this particular area is said to resemble the moon surface.

Lamayuru Monastery: The Monastery is made up of number of shrines and is well known for its magnificent wall paintings.

Day 4 - Local sightseeing in Leh (11,562 ft)
Post breakfast we visit some more places near Leh
Hemis Monastery
Sindhu Ghat: The Sindhu Ghat at Choglamsar village at the bank of Indus is where 50 senior Lamas hold prayers to mark the beginning of the Leh festival.
Thiksey Monastery: Thiksey Gompa is the most beautiful of all monasteries in Ladakh which lies on a hilltop to north of Indus River. The monastery is home to a 35ft Buddha statue, a must visit.
Shanti Stupa: A spectacular white domed structure, the Shanti Stupa located on a hilltop at Chagspa offers magnificent view of the sunset. It was constructed by a Buddhist organization, known as 'The Japanese for World Peace'.

Day 5 - Leh to Nubra (130 Kms - 4.5 Hours)
After breakfast we drive to Diskit Nubra via Khardungla pass 18,380 ft (world's highest motorable road) and reach Diskit where you have a hot lunch at the hotel. After lunch visit the famous Sandunes of Ladakh in Hunder & enjoy a camel safari. Overnight in Nubra.

 

DAY 6 –  Transfer to Pangong via Shayok (7 Hrs ) 

Arrive at the picture-perfect Pangong lake (14500 ft, highest saltwater lake). It’s an unimaginable 135 kms long with almost 70% of the lake in China. It is part of the Changthang geographical setting in the higher Himalayas. Overnight stay at Pangong Lake

DAY 7 – PANGONG TO TSOMORIRI LAKE (300 Kms - 9 Hours)

Pangong Lake to Tsomoriri lake – 9 to 10 hrs drive
Named the “Sacred gift for the living Planet” by the local community, Tsomoriri (high altitude lake, 15080ft) is indeed breathtaking. Our stay will be on the banks of the lake and certainly is an experience to remember. The area being breeding grounds for a number of birds is a protected reserve.
Dinner and overnight stay at the banks of Tsomoriri.


DAY 8 - Tsomoriri to Keylong (340 Kms - 10.5 Hours)
Leave early in the morning from Tsomoriri towards the "White Lake" Tsokar. After spending sometime at the banks of the lake we continue our journey to Keylong. The highlights of the day are Morey plains, covering three high mountain passes (Lachungla, Nakeela, Baralachala) and 21 hairpin bends of gataloops.

Day 9 - Keylong to Manali (120 Kms- 4 Hours)
Post breakfast we leave from Keylong and after crossing Rohtang La we decent down to Manali. Overnight at Manali
