ITINERARY

Day 1 - Mumbai - Bagdogra - Phuntsoling (165Km / 4.5 hrs)

Early morning fly to Bagdogra. Post lunch we proceed to Phuntsoling town near the Bhutan border. The town lies at the gateway to Bhutan. Evening we reach at the resort. Overnight at resort Bhutan..

Day 2 - Phuntsholing to Paro (160km / 4.5hrs)

Post breakfast we leave the for the beautiful town of Paro. We reach the resort by 4.00pm, after check-in and some time to relax we close the night with a campfire and dinner.

Day 3 - Trek to Tiger Nest Monastery & Local Sightseeing

Post an early morning breakfast we visit Bhutan’s most iconic landmark Tiger Nest Monastery (Taktsang Lhakhang). The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This monastery is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom. To reach you have to trek for 8 km which takes around 3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forest. This place offers the most spectacular view of Bhutan. Located on a sheer vertical cliff at an altitude of 800m, it defies all engineering logic. We have lunch at the Monastery cafe . Post lunch we do local sightseeing of Paro that includes:

Ta Dzong (National Museum)

Ta-Dzong, an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum.

Rinpung Dzhong (Paro Dzong)

The construction of the Rinpung Dzhong (Paro Dzong) began in 1644 on the order of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of modern-day Bhutan. Overnight Hotel in Paro

Day 4 - Visit Haa Valley overnight at Haa ( 65km / 2 hrs )

Post breakfast we leave for Haa valley, the most isolated and least populous districts of the country which is located about 3 hours west of Paro. The drive takes you up to the Chele-La pass which is located at a height of about 3800 meters. Here we can enjoy a beautiful view of Bhutan’s second highest and best known peaks the Jichu Drake and Mount Jumolhari. If it's a clear day you might be able to catch a glimpse of Mount Kunchenjunga the 3rd highest mountain in the world. From there we will descend down into the Haa Valley home to a Indian army base that helps protect the border of Bhutan from Chinese incursions.

Day 5 - Haa Valley to Thimphu post Lunch visit Cherry Monastery (115km, 3.5 Hrs)

Post breakfast we drive down to Thimpu the capital city of Bhutan which is at a distance of 115km. After check-in we shall visit the Cherry Monastery which is a Buddhist monastery established in 1620. It is a moderate hike which may take two and half hours beginning from the small village of Dodena. Overnight in Thimpu.

Day 6 - Thimpu to Punakha. Overnight at Punakha (77km, 3 Hrs)

After breakfast we leave for some local sightseeing in Thimpu.

Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue)

Buddha Dordenma is massive statue of Shakyamuni measures in at a height of 51.5 meters, making it one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. The statue is made of bronze and is gilded in gold. The statue fulfills an ancient prophecy dating back to the 8th century A.D that was discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa (Religious Treasure Discoverer) and is said to emanate an aura of peace and happiness to the entire world.

National Memorial Chorten (Monument)

The Memorial Chorten is a stupa and an extraordinary example of Buddhist architecture and artwork with its gorgeous paintings and intricate sculptures.

Folk Heritage Museum

Folk Heritage Museum was established in 2001 and provides visitors and tourists with fascinating insights into theBhutanese material culture and way of life.

Afternoon transfer to Punakha/Wangdue Phodrang via Dochu-La-Pass (At 3050mts it offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range which is a backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass). On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay will be at Punakha Wangdue Phodrang.

Day 07 - Punakha

Today we shall visit the Punakha Dzong the winter residence of Bhutan’s Central Monastic Body. Built at the confluence of Pho Chhu & Mo Chhu Rivers, it looks stunning during the day with sunlight reflecting off the water onto its white-washed walls.

Post lunch we head for rafting. Overnight at Punakha

Day 8 - Punakha to Paro via Wangdue (127km , 4Hrs)

After breakfast check out from hotel and visit the Punakha Dzong (built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal) the winter residence monastic body. After that take a short hike to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang - known as “The Temple of Fertility” . Overnight at Paro.

Day 9 - Departure by flight from Paro

Check out from hotel and take a flight back.
