ITINERARY

Day 1: 11th August: Departure from Mumbai

Take a late evening flight from Mumbai.

Day 2: 12th August: Free at Leisure

Meet & greet at Sandakan Airport. Transfer to Four Points Sheraton Sandakan/free at leisure.

Day 3: 13th August: Island Daytrip (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Pick up from hotel lobby at 0845 a.m. Transfer to jetty for 1 hour boat journey to Selingan Island and Bakungan Kecil Island.

Selingan Turtles Island:
Selingan Island is located within the Turtle Islands, which lies in the Sulu Sea some 40 kilometers north of Sandakan in Sabah, east Malaysia. The Park is noted for its green turtles and hawksbill turtles which lay their eggs on the beaches of the islands. The Park covers an area of 17.4 km’s. After lunch transfer to Bakungan Kecil Island.

Bakungan Kecil Island:
Bakungan Kecil Island (Malay: Pulau Bakungan Kecil) is a tiny, flat, tropical island surrounded by the Sulu Sea in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The island is the largest of the three Malaysian Turtle Islands that together comprise the Turtle Islands, National Park.

Transfer back to the hotel at 0300pm/free at leisure.

Pick up from hotel lobby at 0700pm for a delightful dinner.

Day 4: 14th August: Kinabatangan Sightseeing (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

0800 Hours Meet & greet from the hotel lobby. Drive approximately 30 minutes to,

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre:
The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre was established in 1964 to return orphaned "apes back to the wild”. The center was being administered by the wildlife section of the Forestry Department which in 1988 was upgraded as a department under the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Development. 

1000 hrs.: Proceed to Platform B; observe man’s closest relative ‘the Orangutans’ being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest of Borneo and later watch 25 minutes scheduled video documentary show.

Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre:
Located in Sabah, that promotes sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education and research - giving captured sun bears a better home and restoring their right to live in the wild

Gomantong cave described by WWF as “the best-managed edible birds’ nest cave in the world”. It is located in the heartland of the Gomantong Rainforest Reserve and has been the focus for the birds’ nests for centuries.

Lunch at Myne Resort. Proceed to Kinabatangan.

1600 hrs. Cruise along Kinabatangan River. In the search for some of the primates species including the endemic Proboscis’s Monkey, birds and others wildlife. (2 Hours )

After dinner and subject to weather conditions, proceed to enjoy the night drive safari in search of nocturnal animals

Day 5: 15th August: Kinabatangan Sightseeing (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

0630Hours: Rise early for another “Misty Kinabatangan River Cruise” (1 Hour). Breakfast is served at the resort.

1000Hours: MERBAU TRAIL - You will be fascinated to see more than 100 years old Merbau Tree that has a big cavity underneath that can be fit around 5-6 people at one time. It was believed that the village people used to hide their daughters in the cavity during the Japanese era (2 hours).

Lunch will be served at the resort.

1600Hours: Late afternoon, enjoy another river cruise and try to spot more wildlife (2 Hours) before returning to the lodge for dinner. 

Overnight at Kinabatangan.

Day 6: 16th August: Kinabatangan Sightseeing (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

0630Hours: Rise early for another “Misty Kinabatangan River Cruise” (1 Hour). Breakfast is served at the resort.

Lunch will be served at the resort.

1600Hours: Late afternoon, enjoy another river cruise and try to spot more wildlife (2 Hours) before returning to the lodge for dinner. 

Overnight at Kinabatangan.

Day 7: 17th August: Kinabatangan - Deramakot Forest (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Breakfast is served at the resort.

0830Hours: After breakfast, check out from Kinabatangan and overland to Deramakot Forest Reserve. (2 - 3 Hours)

Check in upon arrival at Deramakot Lodge. Proceed to the first activity which is the presentation of sustainable logging in Deramakot to allow guests to have a better understanding of the natural forest management in Sabah. (1/2 Hours) After that guest will be having dinner in the lodge.

After dinner proceed to the next activity which is a Night Drive Safari to discover various nocturnal wildlife species in the wild (2 Hours). 

Return to your chalets for overnight.

Day 8: 18th August: Deramakot Forest Reserve (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Early in the morning, guest will be proceed to the next activity which is the morning drive in the green forest to search and observe various wildlife species such as wild orangutan, proboscis monkey, pygmy elephant and clouded leopard while at the same time guest can enjoy the
gentle breezes of the scenic forest that Deramakot has to offer. (3 Hours).

After the activity return back to the lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, proceed to Jungle Trekking to which includes the Ecology trial as well as Domingo’s management trail.

Lunch will be served at the lodge (Free at leisure).

In the afternoon around 1630pm, Overland to Balat. (3 Hours). Dinner will be served in Balat. After dinner proceed to the final night drive activity to have more opportunity to observe and search for various nocturnal wildlife species. ( 2 Hours )

After the activity return back to Deramakot Lodge. Overnight at Deramakot Lodge

Day 9: 19th August: Transfer Out (Breakfast and lunch)

Breakfast served at Deramakot Lodge.

0830am check out from Deramakot and return back to Sandakan Airport. ( MH2711 ETA 1500PM )
