The Sangla Valley, also known as the Baspa Valley, is located in the greater Himalayan Range of Himachal Pradesh. The valley extends from Karcham to Chitkul, the last village at the Indo-Tibetan border. The word ‘Sangla’ in Tibetan language denotes ‘Pass of Light’. Sangla travel guide is full of references to the mesmerizing sceneries and picturesque spots. The region and its vicinity are famous for its cherry and apple trees and pine nut orchards. Apart from the amazing natural vegetation, some of the interesting sightseeing places that attract tourists are Kamru Fort, Buddhist Monastery, Sangla Meadow and Tibetan Wood Carving Centre etc. The place is famous worldwide for Kinnauri caps and handmade shawls.

Daywise Itinerary

Drive Time: Approx. 6–7 hrs (200 km)

Arrive at Chandigarh Airport/Railway Station and meet your driver. Begin your picturesque journey into Himachal Pradesh. As you ascend into the hills, enjoy scenic views of the Shivalik ranges, winding mountain roads, and apple orchards near Kotgarh — one of Himachal’s oldest apple-growing regions.

Check in to your hotel and unwind in the peaceful Himalayan surroundings.

Drive Time: Approx. 7–8 hrs (190 km)

After breakfast, depart for Sangla Valley. En route, visit Hatu Mata Temple near Narkanda, located at an altitude of approximately 3,400 meters. The temple offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Continue your scenic drive along the Sutlej River before entering the spectacular Baspa Valley. Arrive in Sangla, check into your hotel, and relax amidst towering mountains and riverside landscapes.

After breakfast, head towards Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and alpine meadows, it is one of the most picturesque villages in Himachal.

Later visit Rakcham Village, known for its untouched beauty, traditional wooden houses, and scenic setting along the Baspa River. Spend time walking by the riverside and enjoying the peaceful Himalayan atmosphere.

Return to Sangla by evening.

Today embark on a thrilling 4x4 Jeep ride to Sangla Kanda, a high-altitude alpine meadow offering stunning views of the sacred Kinner Kailash range.

The off-road journey itself is an adventure, passing through dense forests and rugged mountain terrain. At the meadow, enjoy panoramic mountain vistas, lush green pastures (seasonal), and complete Himalayan solitude.

Return to Sangla by evening.

After breakfast, drive to Kalpa, one of the most scenic villages in Kinnaur district, known for its spectacular views of the Kinner Kailash range.

  • Suicide Point viewpoint (offering dramatic valley views)

After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Shimla, retracing your route along the Sutlej River and through mountain valleys.

Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely evening exploring:

Drive Time: Approx. 3.5 hrs

After breakfast, drive to Chandigarh Airport for your onward journey.
